FAQ:
Question: I have in-floor radiant heat, the thermal resistance of the cork is not going to reduce the floor ability to heat space?
Answer: The cork must be under the radiant wire or radiant mat. It pushes the heat up into the room and blocks it from going into the ground. My floor gets a five dug increase in 10 to 15 minutes. Without the insulation (cork), it would take double this time to heat the floor.
Question: For proper cork underlayment for tile installation, does this require adhesive to bond to the sub floor, or considered “glue less”?
Answer: It depends on what type of floor you are laying. For floating floors such as click laminate or hardwood, it does not need to glue. Tape the seams with duct tape and put your level. If you are gluing down wood, the cork needs to fix the cork underlayment for engineered flooring.
Question: Does the work have a strong chemical smell? Am I concerned about off-gassing and VOC’s?
Answer: No, we did not notice any smell at all neither notice much Odor at all
Question: How long is the roll?
Answer: The manufacturer offers two rolls. I purchased the 4 ft. By 50 ft., as advertised and worked well. The smaller (cheaper) roll is 4 ft by 25 ft.
